Gavin Hosford is a results-driven, values-based, and accomplished Consultant, Interim and Permanent Headteacher / Principal with a proven track record of success in educational leadership.
He is highly skilled in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Inclusion, and Leading Behaviour and Culture. Gavin is adept at team building, fostering people and culture change, and managing organisational transformations, including across multi-site schools and educational settings.
He has demonstrable expertise in turning around underperforming schools, leading to significant academic progress and positive cultural change. Gavin has implemented a wide range of strategies and practices for team building, resulting in high-performing and motivated staff members.
He has led successful initiatives in building positive cultures and fostering safe and supportive learning communities. Gavin also has extensive experience in Further Education, having held a number of Senior Leadership, Management, and Director-level roles in a large ‘Outstanding’ college.
As an experienced Governor, Gavin has helped guide strategic direction whilst ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding, and pupil well-being. As Chair of the School Improvement sub-committee, he drives continuous improvement, monitors progress, and implements key initiatives to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
In addition, as Chair of Trustees, Gavin provides strategic leadership and governance to support a school’s vision and ensure high standards of education, safeguarding, and financial oversight. He works closely with the Executive Principal and Board to ensure accountability across all areas of school performance.
Gavin has also served as a Visiting Fellow for Ambition Institute and Teach First, delivering the National Professional Qualification for Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC). He was previously the Special School representative on the DfE / OFSTED Headteacher Reference Group for Yorkshire & Humberside.
With over 30 years of experience, Gavin has utilised his extensive expertise to mentor and develop teachers, empowering them to excel in their roles. He has also facilitated professional development workshops as a keynote speaker, promoting effective teaching strategies, positive mental health and well-being, and educational leadership.
He is passionate about fostering inclusive education and achieving outstanding outcomes for the most marginalised and disenfranchised students.
